Rare to find in working order World War 2 Military observation aviator wristwatch.
Stamped Nirvana International Watch Co reg no 6288/10, a brand used by C Robert & Cie of La Chaux De Fonds Switzerland.
Also stamped to the watch main case between two of the watch strap lugs A30907.
The watch is 50 cm in diameter, the outer bezel turns to adjust the main indicator.
The dial has an inner 12 hour ring by reference to the short stubby hour hand while the circumference is graduated for the minutes and numbered every 5 minute point.
This dial layout was designed to give aircrew greater access to the elapsing hours and minutes.
The watch case and outer bezel are in a gun metal finish.
As detailed in the book ref these watches were made by adapting pocket watches, the front dial being replace to serve the aviators needs for a large visible dial and an extended winder that could be worked when wearing gloves. I''m aware some models have a second hand but this one doesn''t appear to have ever have one hence a navigator rather than pilot watch.
When fully wound it runs for 8 days but looses around 30 minutes in each 24 hour period. More than likely needs a service as it''s been sitting in a draw unused for many years.
No damage just wear commensurate with it''s age.
Book reference in the pictures is from A Concise Guide To Military Timepieces 1890 to 1990.
