Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Art Deco glass produced by Rene Lalique during the 1920s and 1930s is characterised by sculptural molded relief patterns featuring naturalistic motifs such as birds, flora, and geometric figures. The style pioneered technical innovations including satin frosted finishes and press-molded opalescent glass formulations.

Opalescent glass was produced by adding specific chemical compounds, such as fluorides or bone ash, to the molten glass batch. Controlled cooling caused these components to crystallise within the glass, creating a light-diffusing effect that shifts between translucent blue tones and warm orange highlights depending on light angles.

Authentic period pieces typically feature hand-engraved, wheel-cut, or molded signatures such as R. LALIQUE FRANCE. Identification also involves examining the quality of the relief molding, sharpness of detail, glass weight, and characteristic light diffraction.

Placing an opalescent glass vessel on a dark wood console or polished stone surface provides visual contrast. Positioning the piece near indirect ambient light allows its blue highlights and frosted details to be fully visible.

Clean art glass by hand using lukewarm water and a small amount of mild liquid detergent, avoiding abrasive materials or chemical agents. Ensure the piece is dried using a soft microfibre cloth and stored away from extreme thermal changes.
