Set of 14 Antique Crown Splat & Bar Back Solid Mahogany Dining Chairs.
An incredibly rare set of 14 Victorian Mahogany chairs.
We bring to you this very rare and impressive original set of Victorian (C1880) Mahogany dining chairs in almost pristine condition. The chairs are made by the well regarded and documented maker James Reilly of Manchester (1825-1889). Each chair is stamped to the underside with the makers name and also include the dated Kite registered trade mark to all of the backs.
The chairs feature a spectacular moulded crown splat & bar backs, flanked by turned rosettas with carved detailings around the top and and middle back rails. The chairs have drop in seat-pads which sit above its beautifully shaped straight moulded seat rails which goes to finely turned front legs typical of the Victorian style.
These chairs feature lovely original polish with a lightly faded colour with patina which have been sympathetically restored and carefully waxed in our workshop. These chairs have obviously been really looked after and cared for as it is incredibly rare to find a set of 14 Victorian chairs in such good condition, the majority of sets get broken up or chairs lost or broken. These chairs are of a very high quality, are made from all solid Mahogany with no loose joints or breaks.
The chairs have been recently re-covered and are currently covered in a Green textured flat weave material which is used but in fantastic clean condition, having being professionally wet cleaned in house at Lincoln Restorations. However, please do bare in mind it is used so does have the odd very minor blemish which are too small to picture. The padding is comfortable and traditionally padded, it is in fantastic order and they offer very comfortable and strong usable seating.
Please note: We can reupholster these chairs in a material of your choice if this material is not to your taste (for obvious added costs) if you enquire.
