Wonderful Rare example of an early English Porcelain China Sauce or Food Tureen complete with original cover and undertray, possibly made by Coalport or Rockingham. First quarter of the Nineteenth Century, Regency period.
Lavishly hand decorated in Imari palette with colours of Iron Red and Cobalt Blue with gilt on an off-white ground, the undertray with shaped edge and gilt surround decoration, the cover with a rose bud and leaves.
Condition: Superb condition for such early pieces, no wear to gilding at high points and no staining inside, possibly never used, all pieces are unmarked.
Width: (entire of oval undertray) 8.5'' (21.5cm). Depth: (undertray) 6.5” (16.5cm). Height: (entire combined) 6'' (15.25cm).
