This SET OF NINE ARTS AND CRAFTS TILES, mounted in a custom-made wooden frame, were made by MAW & Co, Shropshire, as part of their TRADES SERIES, a popular subject in the ARTS AND CRAFTS period.The letters, that form the names of the TRADES depicted, make up the four corners of each TILE.These are: MASON, FOUNDER, COOPER, SHIPWRIGHT, SAWYER, TAILOR, NAVVY, PAINTER and SMITHThere is a chip to the top right corner of the SMITH TILE which is the last one on the right in the photograph.
