Scarce C19th Mason’s Ironstone China garniture of vases decorated in Chinoiserie ‘Bandana’ pattern.
Set of three twin-handled lidded vases with intense and complex colourful ‘Chinoiserie’ decoration , featuring multiple fantastical and mythical kylins and ‘lion-dogs’ amongst flowerhead surroundings. The pagoda-style shaped domed lid covers with gilded lion-dog surmounts , and having correspondingly decorated interior covers with lion-dog mounts .
The shaped and facetted bulbous bodies each with shaped handles to the sides . The underside of the vases each with an apocryphal ‘faux Chinese’ blue reign seal-mark and an iron-red factory pattern number of 537.
In excellent original condition with only minor rubbing to the gilding and one minor historic chip to lip off one of smaller vases. Rare surviving garniture of vases in complete condition.
*Mason’s Ironstone China was produced in Staffordshire by the firm established by Charles James Mason in 1813 , who patented the formulation for this type of ‘ironstone china’ ware.
