For Sale by AC Silver
Description

A stunning, fine and impressive pair of antique 4.35 carat diamond and platinum earrings; part of our diamond jewellery collections.

These stunning, fine and impressive antique earrings have been crafted in platinum with 18ct white gold fittings.

Each opposing asymmetrical earring is ornamented with an impressive, central feature four claw set transitional modern brilliant round cut diamond, totalling 0.50ct.

The interlacing scalloped settings are further ornamented with thirty-four pavé set transitional modern brilliant round cut diamonds.

These 1930s platinum earrings secure to the reverse with an 18ct white gold post and depressing fitment style fastening, providing a secure and comfortable fit; this style of fastening indicates the high quality of the pieces.

These impressive examples of 1930s jewellery are hallmarked to the posts with the French platinum import mark (masked man) and gold mark (owl) and have been independently tested using state of the art technology (Niton XL2 Analyzer) and verified as platinum and 18ct gold.

The 1930s diamond earrings fastenings are further hallmarked with the French 18ct gold mark (eagle's head) and maker's mark (GA), 'ALPA' and the fastening manufacturers mark 'MECAN'.

These antique diamond earrings are supplied with two IDGL diamond grading certificates for the feature diamonds, in addition to an IDGL diamond grading report card for the supporting stones.

Images do not always reflect the true colour and brilliance of gemstones and diamonds. The video however provides a truer representation of the actual colour and showcases each stone.

Condition

These stunning antique diamond earrings are excellent quality, set with high colour and clarity graded feature diamonds displaying a fine white colour, brilliance and presence.

The well colour matched supporting diamonds display a fine white colour and brilliance.

The hallmarks to one post have wear and the other remains very clear; the hallmarks to the fastening are also very clear.

Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this fine example of antique diamond jewellery.

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Jewellery from the 1930s late Art Deco period features sculptural geometric forms, openwork scroll motifs, and fluid sweeping lines. Designs from this era heavily emphasised platinum settings paired with round cut diamonds to create monochromatic brilliance.

Fine jewellery of the 1930s predominantly utilised platinum due to its strength, natural white lustre, and ability to hold intricate claw settings. High-purity diamonds, including transitional and round brilliant cuts, were the favoured gemstone choice.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-finished platinum work, specific makers marks or fineness hallmarks, and vintage diamond cuts such as Old European or transitional cuts. Earring backs from this era typically feature original clip or screw-back mechanisms.

Vintage diamond ear clips pair effectively with minimalist contemporary evening wear or tailored suits. The sculptural metalwork adds a focal point to modern attire without overwhelming the silhouette.

Clean platinum and diamond jewellery using a soft-bristled brush, mild soap, and warm water to remove oil build-up. Store each earring in a lined pouch to prevent metal surfaces from scratching against other gemstones.
