A delightful and rare silver mounted cayenne bottle & spoon, by the great George Fox. This unusual piece dates from the mid Victorian period. The bottle is of clear glass, with a wide band of hobnail cutting, in addition to step and slice cutting. The rim is flared and lobed. The silver spoon is gilded and has a cut glass ball finial, echoing the hobnail cutting on the bottle design. The bottle would have been for cayenne pepper, a condiment served at the table in the 18th/19th Century. A lovely collector''s piece that would serve a number of table uses. Dimensions below.

Condition :- Very good, with no cracks to the glass and no dents or breaks to the spoon. The body and the stopper have some tiny fleabites along the edges and points and there is one chip to the inside of the collar (shown in photo). All commensurate with age and use.
