Highland Antiques Ltd has dated this piece to the Georgian era.
These bowls have two handles and have repeating patterns of acanthus leaves and Greek key pattern. There are a full set of hallmarks on the end and are gilded inside. As well as being used for salt they would make ideal bowls for sauces or sweets both could be served using the associated hallmarked spoons. Both bowls are in excellent condition.
