George III Pair of Antique Silver Salt Holders, John Emes London 1806

Description

A beautiful pair of antique George III silver salt bowls. Made in London in 1806 by John Emes. Emes was well known for producing high quality tea and coffee services, his designs were both functional and elegant. These bowls have two handles and have repeating patterns of acanthus leaves and Greek key pattern. There are a full set of hallmarks on the end and are gilded inside. As well as being used for salt they would make ideal bowls for sauces or sweets both could be served using the associated hallmarked spoons. Both bowls are in excellent condition.
