Mytton Antiques - Jerrard Nares has dated this piece to the 1870s.
The rim with pairs of reserves, filled with scens of cranes nesting in bull rushes, flowers and shrubs, in which birds perch. The reserves against the concave panels decorated with alternating designs of lattices, scrolling flowers, diamond petal heads, and rising waved leaves. The centre of the charger with two boats, their sails decorated with flowers and hatched borders, as exotic birds fly amongst trees on the shore. The rear of the charger with scrolls surrounding the raised foot rim.
Date circa 1870.
