This fabulous antique Sailor's Valentine has an octagonal wooden glazed box which dates from the 19th century containing skilfully arranged sea shells of different shape, size and colours which surround a love heart centrepiece.

Sailor's Valentines were made in the 19th century mainly in Barbados, Caribbean and were brought back home by sailors to give to their loved ones.

This charming love token is in beautiful condition and is a very nice example.

Date: 19th Century.

Dimensions: Width: 32 cm (12 1/2"). Depth: 5 cm (2"). Height: 32 cm (12 1/2").

Weight: 1262 g.

Condition: Very good antique condition with some light signs of use in keeping with age. A few loose shells. Please see pictures.
