A Very Attractive Early 18th Century, Queen Anne Period, Walnut Framed Wall Mirror, The Well Figured Cushion Moulded Frame Retaining Good Rich Colour & Surface, Enclosing Old Replacement Mirror Plate.
An extremely attractive wall mirror this cushion moulded frame design is relatively commonly found towards the end of the 17th and early 18th centuries. This particular mirror boasts lovelt walnut veneers, which have retained a good colour and surface bringing real vibrancy to the piece.
The mirror is also a great useful and functional size, small enough for just about any spot one could imagine, but at the same time big enough that it wouldn''t look totally lost in larger spaces.
It has an old mirror plate which probably isn''t original, due to its excellent condition with just some minor silvering and pitting marks. When inspecting the reverse of the frame it appears that the back has not been disturbed, or removed and put back for an extremely long time, which means this replacement mirror plate has clearly been in situ for a very long time.
It’s also worth noting that should one wish then the mirror can be hung landscape, it looks great both ways, so its entirely the owners choice.
As with all items which we offer for sale this Queen Anne mirror has been inspected and attended to in our workshops and received a natural wax polish before being offered for sale to ensure it is ready for immediate placement within the home or office.
