A superb quality English William & Mary walnut and burr inlay chest of drawers, dating to the late 17th century (circa 1690s), beautifully inlaid throughout with geometric designs. The top showcases oyster veneers and burr inlay arranged in a geometric pattern. The chest features two short drawers over three graduated long drawers, engraved brass drop handles, and escutcheons.
The drawers remarkably still retain remnants of their original 17th-century block-printed paper, which features images of William & Mary, enhancing the historical value of this piece. It is supported by four beautifully turned bun feet. This chest of drawers is in excellent condition, with signs of age and use, and old repairs as to be expected. It is structurally sound, with smooth-running drawers, ready for its new home.
Dimensions: 97.5 cm width x 58.5 cm depth x 95 cm high.
