Large Antique English Sterling Silver Serving Tongs

Description

A good gauge of silver has been used to create these magnificent and very elegant serving tongs, perfectly usable today for those special occasions. The tongs weigh a hefty 7.44 Troy Ounces or 231.5 Grams.

The front blade is beautifully ornamented with pierced or reticulated decoration further enhanced with very attractive bright cut decoration. The centre has a vacant cartouche, which could be personalized by your silversmith should you wish. The handles have a very elegant beaded design.

The front blade is where the full hallmark for the highly collectible Chester assay office can be found and the date letter for the year 1913, 98 years old. The makers mark is also present for the silversmith's Herbert Edward Barker & Frank Ernest Barker.

Excellent quality and condition, measuring 9 1/4" long with the blades measuring 3 1/4" wide.
