Size: 1ft 5in x 1ft 3in (42 x 38cm).Antique salt bag (namakdan) by the Bakhtiari nomads of the Chahar Mahal region of Persia.Circa 1920.This salt bag is tightly woven using soumak technique to the face, the design to the front is of a large medallion, note the small animals decorating the neck and base of the salt bag. The back is in plain weave with a small tribal design in the lower righthand corner.
