Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Art Nouveau glassware is defined by sinuous, organic lines inspired by natural forms such as plants, flowers, and flowing tendrils. Pieces from this era often feature asymmetrical silhouettes, whiplash curves, and decorative metal mounts integrated with coloured or clear glass.

Decanters of this period were primarily constructed from hand-blown lead crystal or soda glass, frequently featuring applied coloured glass handles or trailing details. The decorative mounts, collars, and stoppers were typically crafted from sterling silver or silver plate.

Authentic pieces usually feature hallmarks on the silver components indicating the silver purity, maker, and year of assay. Additionally, period glass displays characteristic signs of age, such as natural base wear, pontil marks on blown glass, and hand-finished pierced metalwork.

An antique decanter functions effectively as a decorative accent on a modern bar cart, dining sideboard, or open shelving. Grouping decanters of varying heights and glass colours creates a curated focal point that bridges traditional and modern aesthetic styles.

Hand wash the interior of the glass with warm water and mild detergent, avoiding harsh abrasives or rapid temperature changes. Clean the silver elements using a soft polishing cloth specifically formulated for silver to prevent oxidisation without damaging the underlying glass.
