Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

In the nineteenth century, candle boxes were essential household objects used to store tallow or beeswax candles. They kept light sources clean, dry, and protected from rodents prior to the widespread introduction of domestic electricity.

Antique candle boxes were typically crafted from hardwoods such as mahogany, oak, or pine. Higher-end decorative examples often incorporated fine marquetry inlays made from boxwood, satinwood, or fruitwood, secured with metal hinges.

Authentic pieces usually display hand-cut dovetail joints, original brass hardware, and natural wear around the mounting hole on the backplate. The wood surface typically exhibits oxidation and age-appropriate patina consistent with historical use.

A candle box can be mounted on a narrow wall space or placed on top of a sideboard to display smaller decorative accessories. Its timber tones add warmth and historic character when paired with contemporary art or minimalist decor.

Dust the item regularly with a soft, dry lint-free cloth. Apply a high-quality beeswax polish sparingly once or twice a year, avoiding modern aerosol sprays or solvents that can loosen delicate marquetry inlays.
