A beautifully simple Irish Chippendale style mahogany side table c1770, with a drawer at each end and open bracket detail to the square legs. There is a large carved shell motif to the central frieze of the table, a design feature often found on Irish furniture. The top is made of a single piece of mahogany which has developed a lovely patina.A very stylish table with an excellent rich colour to the mahogany. Unusually it has a drawer at either end instead of in the front, which have the original axe drop handles. The shell detail to the front is gorgeous - it is quite substantial and beautifully carved from solid mahogany.Condition: The table is in very good original condition throughout, with some minor surface marks which I have tried to show in the photos.
