This large domed serving tureen is made of Old Sheffield Plate and dates to c1780. The piece is internally marked for the retailer Garrards of Panton Street, London. The domed lid has the Coat of Arms for the Earl of Coventry including the Latin motto 'Candide et Constanter' (Candidly and Constantly). The lid fits well and the dish stands well on three feet.

The piece is in good condition with some surface wear and some copper bleed to the raised edges.
