A beautiful antique Victorian diamond ruby bar brooch, adorned with a fabulous bee on top encrusted with glittering old mine-cut diamonds and cabochon/ cushion-cut pink rubies along the body, head and wings.
During the late 19th Century many were left longing to reconnect with the beauty of the natural world after the vast urbanisation of Great Britain. This brought about an abundance of romanticised Insect and butterfly pieces, decorated with colourful gemstones to highlight the beauty and value of nature.
The piece is crafted in silver and 18ct gold with a large gold safety pin underneath. It dates to the turn of the 20th Century and displays a dazzling collection of precious gems.
We recommend you insure for £3,000. We can provide a written Valuation on completion of the sale.
