A rather charming Chamberlain''s Worcester Porcelain Jug c.1815. The front very finely painted with a central panel of a Spaniel chasing a Cock Pheasant, after a painting by Stephen Elmer, reserved on a sage green ground. Titled in red script to the base: ‘Spaniel and Wounded Peasant, Vide Daniels Rural Sports’ – Chamberlains Worcester.
William Barker Daniel''s ''Rural Sports'' was published first in 1801, then republished in 1812. The volumes including many printed versions of paintings by artists including Elmer, Sawrey Gilpin, Nathan Drake and George Stubbs.
Condition: Some wear to the gilding mainly around the rim. Short hairline crack to the rim.
