A Pair of French Champlevé Enamel Ormolu and Onyx Vases Circa 1880

This rare pair of French champlevé enamel ormolu and vivid onyx vases are most pleasing with their rare yellow and blue coloured enamelling and equally rare cream onyx with vivid russet and amber inclusions.

The enamel is intricately done, with detailed foliate decoration throughout. The vases stand on four small raised feet supporting the stepped and domed champleve bases. The bases finish with a small moulded stem, from which the polished circular onyx bodies raise to meet the top section in matching enamel, forming tall, shaped necks with flared gilt rims.

These decorative French vases date to circa 1880. They are in good original condition with no damage or repair.
