Description

Made during the early 19th century by the Arabachi Turkmen, this very rare and beautiful chuval-face is in very good condition, albeit with the loss of the lower elem. This is a classic Arabachi chuval with a single row of three guls flanked by a row of half guls, top and bottom quartered in ivory and red-orange.

The Arabachi inhabited the east bank of the Oxus (Amu Darya) which is south of Bukhara, and were one of the oldest Turkmen tribes who today, have virtually disappeared.

This is a very collectible weaving of which very few appear on the world market these days.

Size: 1.43m x 0.68m (4' 8" x 2' 3").
