Luxury Motor Car Travel Trunk. Finnigan's Motoring Luggage. C1920.

This stunning antique car travel trunk which is extremely well made is by British luxury luggage and trunk maker Finnigan''s Ltd of London and dates from the first half of the 20th century.
 
Finnigan''s Ltd was one of the finest British leather goods makers and retailer in the 19th century and had a customer base of American millionaires such as the Rockefellers, the Vanderbilts and the Fords.
 
This handsome motoring luggage case which has a wonderful look is made of luxurious green rexine, has leather edging, strong leather handles fitted to either side and wooden reinforced base.
 
All fittings are brass which include three brass clasps to the front with the middle one beng double locking with a safety clasp. The other fittings include tethering rings to either side so the case so it can be fitted to a car, hinges, lock which is marked Finnigan''s Ltd London and rivets all around the case which are all marked with an F (for Finnigan''s).
 
The lid of this high quality case can be raised and locked in it''s upright position and inside is fitted with a striped beige canvas lining. The outside has a couple of old luggage labels such as GWR.
 
This case would have been attached to the rear of the car in the early 1900''s so is sturdy, durable and waterproof. The size is excellent with a good depth of 22 cm, length of 78 cm and width of 46 cm.
 
As well as being very usable this case looks amazing on display so is also ideal for home decor, shop display or photography / film prop. Would make a very nice coffee table.
