Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Bow rocker horses emerged prominently during the 18th and 19th centuries, featuring curved timber rails that allowed the toy to rock back and forth smoothly. They predated the later Victorian marqua or safety stand design, representing one of the earliest traditional forms of riding toys.

Traditional pieces were constructed from carved timber blocks, coated in plaster gesso, and hand-painted. Fittings typically included real leather harness work, metal stirrups, glass eyes, and natural horsehair for the mane and tail.

Authenticity is indicated by hand-carved joinery, plaster gesso undercoats beneath painted surfaces, glass eyes set directly into the wood, and tack fastened with iron or brass tacks rather than modern staples.

These decorative objects function well positioned in empty corners, bay windows, or dedicated nursery spaces, serving as sculptural accent pieces within traditional or eclectic interior schemes.

Maintain stable humidity levels away from direct sunlight and radiators to prevent timber movement and gesso cracking. Dust gently with a soft dry brush and apply leather conditioner to the harness elements to prevent drying.
