London Fine Antiques has dated this piece to the 1750s.
This early Windsor chair is a fine example presented in Elm, Ash and fruitwood.
Swept back underarm supports combine with the bow-back and bob-tail backstays to produce a very solid chair with great character.

With a curved crest rail unifying the back-splat and comb the chair is well proportioned.
The exposed 'through leg' on the seatbase adds to the appeal. Paint is evident at the base of the stickback and around the bob-tail which we believe to be original.

This chair will make an interesting addition to any collection and is presented in pleasing condition throughout.
