A lovely Arts and Crafts sterling silver & wood mazer bowl [i.e., a mazer is a bowl without handles used for drinking in medieval times, from around 13th to 16th century and as early as 1280] with excellent Celtic casting and engraving on an otherwise plain round bowl mounted on a cylindrical oak base. The mazer was made by David and Maurice Davis of Birmingham, at Livery Street, in 1929. The assay mark is for Sheffield.
Weight: 210 g (including the wood base).
Condition:
The silver is in very good condition with minor surface scratches consistent with normal use, particularly in the interior. Hallmarks are clear. Wood in very good condition, with no splits.
