Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Founded in Belgium in 1826, Val Saint Lambert became world-renowned for producing high-quality lead crystal, celebrated for its complex cut-to-clear techniques and vibrant coloured cased glass throughout the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.

Cut-to-clear crystal is crafted by casing a layer of clear lead glass with a thin outer layer of coloured glass, which glasscutters then slice into using abrasive wheels to reveal the clear glass beneath in geometric patterns.

Authentic pieces feature precise geometric hand-cuts, sharp facet edges, high refractive brilliance due to high lead content, and occasionally acid-etched marks or signatures on the base.

Position the vase on a sideboard, window sill, or mantelpiece where natural light can refract through the red colour casing and highlight the faceted cut patterns against a neutral backdrop.

Wash by hand using warm water and mild liquid soap, avoiding hot water or dishwashers which cause thermal shock in lead glass, and dry gently with a microfibre cloth.
