James Cohen Antique Carpets has dated this piece to the 1880s.
This beautiful example has the blood red field needed to perfectly set off the animated medallions and contrast with greens, yellows and blue tones. Finely woven and an early piece- late 19th century- it would be very expensive in original condition but has sadly some inexpert repairs which brings the value down. Still very much useable for the floor or could be a great display piece.
