Antique silver half hunter pocket watch, 1919.
The watch has a Swiss stem-winding movement, identified as by Revue, which is working nicely. The movement is signed with the initials MBS, probably the original retailer. The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover which has a little scratching.
The watch measures 50mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is silver and there are hallmarks on all three covers for London (import mark), 1919 with a sponsor’s mark for George Stockwell.
From 1 June 1907, Stockwells acted as assay agents, facilitating the import into Britain of foreign gold and silver items which had to be assayed and hallmarked in a UK assay office before being released for retail.
The case is in lovely condition, with engine turned detail on both the front and back.
The winding crown pushes in to open the front cover.
Inside, there is a glass lens which is in lovely condition.
The dial is in nice condition, just a little darkening to the centre and sub seconds dial, and a short scratch between 10 and 11. The watch has its special half hunter hour hand so that the time can be read when the front cover is closed.
The watch comes in a new presentation box.
