An unusual late 18thc / early 19thc sailor''s pipe tamper...the centre part being made from baleen (the filtering part of the inside of a baleen whale''s mouth) and the horse''s hoof complete with white metal tacks, being made of carved coquilla nut....it is finished off with white metal mounts....in excellent condition.
