Antique Minton Cabinet Porcelain Hand-painted Plate, 1864

Rare antique hand-painted porcelain cabinet plate crafted by Minton in 1864. The plate features intricate gilt decoration on a rich "Minton Blue" background, a signature azure hue for which Minton is renowned. A wide gold band with elaborate ornamentation surrounds the edges, creating a striking and vibrant design. At the center of the plate is a finely painted scene of a natural mountain landscape, complete with a house nestled at the edge of a forest, showcasing meticulous attention to detail. The underside of the plate bears the official Minton stamp and date mark, authenticating its origin and time period.

Minton Porcelain Company was a pioneer in English porcelain production. Founded in 1793 in Stoke-on-Trent by Thomas Minton, the factory passed to his son after Thomas's death in 1836. Under his son's leadership, the company became a leading center for high-quality ceramics, porcelain, and tiles in Victorian England. Thomas Minton made Minton ware famous, producing cream-colored and blue-printed earthenware, majolica, bone china, and Parian porcelain. The factory was particularly noted for its fine white bone china and vibrant colors. Minton supplied vast quantities of tableware, tiles, and other items to the USA in the 19th century; the White House was traditionally supplied with Minton crockery, and many significant buildings of this era were tiled with Minton tiles, including the House of Parliament.

The dining room of the English royal family on the family yacht "Britannia," where state leaders and prominent individuals from around the world are honored to be invited, is served with Minton tableware. The factory also became a popular supplier of dinnerware made to order for embassies and heads of state. The Minton name continues today as part of the Waterford, Wedgwood, and Royal Doulton Group. The Minton trademark was the most famous porcelain of the 19th century and is one of the most valuable in the world. It is a magnificent, exquisite gift and a true treasure for serious collectors.
