A fine antique desk in superb original condition .
This very usable desk is ideal to be used for a laptop or desktop computer with the bonus of being able to store a folded laptop or keyboard/mouse (wireless) in the middle drawer with the option of locking. This stunning desk is complete with its original French polished finish throughout with its idyllic lightly faded Walnut colour with patina. The back is panelled so is perfect for hiding those ugly wires and plugs etc.
The desk features 9 large high quality skilfully dovetail constructed Mahogany lined drawers which descend in size. This desk is ornately embellished with double reeded mouldings to each drawer complete with reeded edges along the uprights. The desk has a lovely solid Walnut top with a beautifully polished top, moulded edge and small rear up-stand. The desk finishes to a lovely moulded plinth with faux bracket feet which conceal the desks original castors, making this desk easy to move. The panelled back is constructed beautifully with mouldings surrounding the panel, complete with the plinth following from the sides.
The desk features its beautiful polished brass pierced fretwork dropper handles and matching brass keyhole escutcheons which are all original to this piece. The desk is also complete with its original quality Brass lever locks which are fully operational and working smoothly with its original key. We have sympathetically restored, cleaned and waxed this item to enhance the French polished surface and preserve it for many years to come.
Being a fixed desk, this desk does not come apart into 3 sections like many twin pedestal desks do, this means that this desk is particularly sturdy, all joints are tight and the desk is free from woodworm.
This item is in superb condition for its age as shown by the photographs below. Being an antique item of this age there are obviously marks, scratches, However, we feel that these points are which adds to its charm and character.
