1940 - 1960
For Sale by AC Silver
Description

An impressive vintage French 3.03 carat aquamarine and 1.42 carat diamond, 18 carat white gold marquise ring; part of our diverse vintage jewellery and estate jewelry collections.

This fine and impressive 1950's aquamarine and diamond ring has been crafted n 18ct white gold.

The pierced decorated, marquise shaped setting is ornamented with two feature round mixed cut aquamarines, individually claw set vertically to the centre of the design.

The feature aquamarines are flanked on either side by a pavé set transitional modern brilliant round cut diamond.

A further thirty pavé set eight-cut diamonds embellish the marquise shaped setting to complete the design.

The pierced decorated, bifurcated ring shoulders integrate with the main setting and amalgamate to form the channelled shank.

The ring is hallmarked to the outer surface of the shank with the French hallmark for 18 ct gold (eagle's head) and maker's mark, which is partially worn in keeping with age.

This vintage 1950s cocktail ring is supplied with an independent diamond grading report card.

Images do not always reflect the true colour and brilliance of gemstones and diamonds. The video however provides a truer representation of the actual colour and showcases each stone.

Condition

This impressive vintage gemstone dress ring is fine quality set with aquamarine and very well colour matched, very high colour graded diamonds.

The ring is a very good gauge of gold and is in excellent condition with partially worn French hallmarks to the outer surface of the shank.

Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this fine example of aquamarine jewellery.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Mid-century French jewellery from the 1950s often features bold geometric silhouettes, multi-stone clusters, and platinum or white gold mountings that contrast vibrant coloured gemstones with diamonds.

Marquise-shaped cocktail rings from this era typically feature 18ct white gold or platinum settings, faceted gemstones such as aquamarines, and surrounding pave or grain-set diamonds.

Authentic mid-century French pieces generally carry French assay hallmarks, such as the Eagles head for 18ct gold or the Dogs head for platinum, alongside specific makers marks and period-accurate setting techniques.

A statement mid-century ring can be paired with clean, minimalist modern attire, allowing the central gemstones and metallic setting to act as the primary focal point of an outfit.

Clean the ring using warm water, mild dish soap, and a soft-bristled brush to remove dust from behind the stone settings, avoiding harsh chemicals or ultrasonic cleaners if the stones contain natural inclusions.
