Framed Hand-Cut Silhouette by Charles Handrup (Danish, d1931)
A charming and immensely skilfully executed silhouette by the Dane, Charles Handrup of a young lady wearing a bonnet, with the inscription ''Old Manor House, Halliford August 2nd., 1919''.
Handrup worked in London at the beginning of the 20thC, from his studio in the
D H Evans store in Oxford Street. He was awarded a Silver Medal at the Empire Exhibition at Crystal Palace in 1911. In 1931 he was knocked down by a car near the store and died from his injuries days later.
