We are selling an Autumnal study by the artist William Hamilton Kerr inscribed Orford, Suffolk. This scene was most likely captured in the same area.
Signed with initials lower right, Suffolk artists label verso along with a fragment descriptive label which originally read ''Suffolk in Summer''.
Presented within its original glazed silver frame with velvet mount which is typical of the period. Some losses to the silver frame.

Sir William Hamilton Kerr, 1st Baronet was a British Conservative Party Politician, educated at Balliol College, Oxford. At the 1931 General Election, he was elected MP for the Oldham Constituency in Lancashire. He held the seat until losing it in the Labour Landslide at the 1945 General Election. At the 1950 General Election, he returned to the House of Commons as MP for Cambridge, holding that seat until his retirement in 1966. Kerr was made a Baronet in 1957. The title became extinct on his death in 1974. The Hamilton Kerr Institute was established in 1976 in a riverside property given to Cambridge University for the Fitzwilliam Museum. Endowed by Sir William Hamilton Kerr, it provides art conservation, services and training.
