A spectacular antique Victorian Tigers eye pendant bestowed with an enormous cabochon tiger’s eye in the centre displaying stripes of gold and brown and ethereal silvery-blue bands that run vertically down the centre and shimmer across the surface.
The Tiger’s Eye has been revered throughout history as a stone of strength, courage and good fortune. Its dark brown colouring and iridescent golden bands are reminiscent of a tiger’s stripes and can sometimes display as one glowing strip down the centre, resembling a tiger’s eye.
The principal stone is claw-set in an 18ct gold frame with pierced workmanship around the sides and bordered by a ring of fourteen natural pearls and old cushion-cut diamonds, with additional rose-cuts chasing up the bale (approx. 0.75ct total).
This is a remarkable antique find, all in excellent condition and fitted with a fold-away safety catch on the back, indicating it was converted into a brooch over the years and can be again with the addition of a new pin. It’s also accompanied by its original antique box complete with a blue velvet cushion inside for it to rest on.
We recommend you insure for £3,500. We can provide a written Valuation on completion of the sale.
