Royal Worcester French Fisher Girl, James Hadley, D. 1888.

Description

Royal Worcester porcelain figure, the French fisher girl, dated 1888. Finely modelled by James Hadley, as a young girl walking bare foot along a pebbled beach, wearing a calf length skirt, painted with seaweed, and carrying a large basket.

She stands before a pillar, inscribed by the modeller ‘Hadley’.

Decorated in ‘blush ivory’, with pastel shaded enamels, and gilt.

Puce printed and impressed factory marks, and model number ‘1202’. Date code for 1888.

Height – 44 cm, 17 3/8”.

Diameter – 18.5 cm, 7 1/4”.

Condition – Typical minor wear to the gilding. Otherwise in excellent condition. No restoration.
