INTERESTINGLY BEBB,S BOOK DOESNT EXPLAIN WHY THE CUPBOARD HAS DRAWERS AT THE TOP. IT WAS BECAUSE IN THE WELSH LONG HOUSES THE OCCUPANTS COULD FIND ITEMS IN THE DARK WITHOUT RESORTING TO USING A RUSH LIGHT.
THE CUPBOARD IS AROUND 1760 IN DATE AND HAS A GREAT COLOUR AND PATINATION. USABLE IN MANY SITUATIONS NOW WE HAVE ELECTRICITY!
THE ORIGINAL WOODEN HOOKS IN THE MAIN PART ARE NO LONGER THERE( A HANGING RAIL) TAKES THEIR PLACE.
IF REQUIRED WE CAN PUT SHELVES IN THE MAIN PART. THIS PIECE IS TOTALLY ORIGINAL AND HAS A RICH GLOWING COLOUR.
IT MEASURES 140CMS L 139CMS H 50CMS D
