Antique Furniture Direct has dated this piece to the Victorian era.
It has brass strap work and brass corners and it has useful brass carry handles to the sides. In beautifully figured camphorwood with good colour and patina, the top is inscribed BRUST, probably a sea campaign chest, but would now make a wonderful coffee table.

Good condition with good patina and colour. Wear and Marks to the top commensurate with age. Some splits to the brass corners in places. Lacking candle box.
