Victorian wall mirrors are characterised by ornate wood carving, prominent cresting, and curvilinear frames often inspired by Rococo and Gothic Revival movements popular during the nineteenth century.

These mirrors were primarily constructed from solid mahogany, walnut, or gilt wood, enclosing heavy plate glass with hand-cut bevelled edges and backed by solid timber boards.
