A Pair of 19th Century Bronze Vases.
Each in the Classical taste, with a beaded and lappet cast rim, over ogee band of stiff leaves and acanthus, over the neck sweeping outward toward the main body. The collar decorated with grapes and vine leaves, relevant to the decoration of the body, as Bacchanalian fauns and Bacchantes dance in a procession around the body. The vase held within a rising reeded cup, over a likewise rounded socle. The Wyvern fluted spreading base, finished with a circular and straight foot rim. The whole raised up on a square plinth base, standing on lions paw feet, emerging from scrolled brackets.
Date circa 1870.
Height 16 1/2 inches, 42cm.
Width 9 inches, 23cm.
Depth 6 3/4 inches, 17cm.
