Susanna Margaretta ‘Daisy’ Makeig-Jones was an influential pottery designer for Wedgwood, renowned for her Fairyland Lustre series, which was introduced shortly after she became a full-time designer in 1914.
The First Ten Lustre ranges, numbered consecutively from Z4823 to Z4832, comprised ten distinct patterns, each with its own unique combination of lustre colors. The release of the First Lustres on the market, just 9 months after Daisy became a designer, is a testament to her artistic vision, talent, and perseverance.

Our bowl is No. 3 in the Lustre Range, with pattern Z 4825. This pattern concluded the First Ten Lustre ranges. In this range, Daisy employed the "Celestial Dragons" pattern with an orange lustre exterior and a luxurious blue mottled glaze interior transitioning from blue to purple. Orange was said to be Daisy’s favorite lustre color, and she aimed to put her unique touch on the Lustre designs. This range was produced from 1914 to 1929 and is now highly collectible. Limited editions and the growing interest in Daisy Makeig-Jones' work have caused prices to rise year after year. Many collectors view the purchase of Daisy Makeig-Jones designs as a sound investment.
