We believe this piece of furniture was made around 1817 .
The Ebony stringing is in good condition and is around all drawer fronts and the edges of the front of this sideboard. The piece is supported on six turned legs which are also Ebony banded.
We understand that this piece was designed as a serving table for a Regency dining room .
The condition is overall good with signs of long dead woodworm in the inside but not showing on the exterior. The top is faded so we assume it has been used regularly. There are one or two marks.on the top. this piece has been in storage for some while and could only improve with some TLC !
The drawers have double locks which is always a sign of quality.
The use of ebony inlaid decoration on Harewood furniture of this Regency period , signified the mourning of the nation for the death in action , of the great Naval hero Admiral Lord Horatio Nelson in 1805 .
