ANTIQUE #SA1094452

An Unusual Set Of Continental Carved Elm Balloon-back Side Chairs, Late 18th /early 19th Century

£480    $615    €579
A really distinctive and stylish design

The outline of the backs possibly inspired by the inventions of Joseph Michel and Jacques-Etienne Montgolfier who achieved the first aerostatic flight in 1783.

The frames are in good order overall, with some minor and isolated historic worm and one missing rosette capital. The weakness of the chair has been the cresting rail, repaired on three of the chairs, two of which could be improved upon.

Reliable transport throughout the UK can be easily arranged at cost price. Please let me know if you would like a quote, have any questions or require more images.
