Early 19thC French Antique Trumeau Mirror with Neo-classical Oil Painting 125cm.
A superbly stylish early 19th century French trumeau mirror with a neo-classical oil painting over, within its original giltwood frame and measuring 125cm tall.
A good scale and excellent proportion trumeau mirror, traditionally an overmantle which can equally be a wall hanging mirror with painting.
A very fine example of an early 19th century, circa 1830, from Bordeaux.., with an exceptionally fine quality painting, striking neoclassical theme with central mythological figures, possibly Juno and Cupid, amongst a countryside landscape and classical architectural building by a lake side. An excellent composition and subject, retaining great colour.
A skilful early 19th century neoclassical oil on canvas painting, above original mercury mirror plate within the original giltwood frame, 125cm tall x 80cm wide.
An elegant decorative antique mirror and painting, both function and form that can enh
...ance a classic or contemporary space, an interior design piece of considerable decorative appeal.
These Trumeau examples were traditionally made in Bordeaux.
Please note, the frame is structurally good, with minor repairs to sections of the beeding but minimal, the original mercury back mirror plate is complete and has no cracks or losses. The oil painting has had a repair, easier to see from the back, a stable repair and otherwise considered very good condition.
The mirror plate has a layer back panel.
We may decide to remove listing and consign the mirror to the workshop and have a correct period back fitted to the mirror and match in any repair to the frame, these are minimal conservation alterations and will not affect the authenticity, we would then relist at a higher price, until then available and priced sensibly to reflect.
