Fine and Imposing Identical Pair French Heavy Gauge Ormolu & Bronze Renaissance revival style ovoid form Ewers of medium proportions and of outstanding quality, in the manner of Claude Michel Clodion, third quarter of the Nineteenth Century, possibly earlier.
The tapering ovoid body cast with a Bacchic procession between ormolu bands of grapes and vines, the highly ornate applied scroll handle surmounted with a Bronze seated feathered bird and a cherub holding grapes, above a ram''s head. This magnificent pair are firmly secured on circular supports with similar cast detailing.
Condition: Wonderful untouched condition, original ormolu and bronze patination with nice aged surface, no wear anywhere, no losses or imperfections. No foundry marks visible. Back and front views are similar.
