Napoleon on St. Helena Staffordshire Figure C1860

Description

This unusual VICTORIAN STAFFORDSHIRE FIGURE shows NAPOLEON ON ST. HELENA, in exile, book in hand, resting against an outcrop, his sword and hat by his side, contemplating his future. It dates from circa 1860.

A similar FIGURE is illustrated in Pugh 1st Edition Page C258, Plate 12 Figure 38.

The condition is good. There is a little overpainting to his left wrist which suggests the hand has been refixed some time in the past.

A desirable FIGURE.
