An Early 19th Century Continental Silver Box, Circa 1820

This good quality early 19th century Netherlands hallmarked box is very well made and of a good weight. It has a decorative lid with an embossed scene depicting a group of villagers gathered outside an inn enjoying drinks and each other’s company. In the background, there is a distant view with trees and cottages. The lid opens onto a stop hinge and closes onto a rebated rim. The box has a raised and moulded top edge and an identical plinth which adds style and strength to this early continental box which is hallmarked in several places as shown in the photographs. Circa 1820 in good condition with minor age-related wear.
