Description

A fine Worcester porcelain sparrow beak milk jug painted with a mandarin style pattern with a child and two women in a garden, one seated on a bench holding a flower. Around the handle a stylized puce sketched landscape sits between two gilt and iron red framed panels with a busy gilt foliate background with two small reserves with black painted bamboo. c.1775.

It measures 9.2cm (3 5/8") high, 8cm (3 1/8") spout to handle and 6.3cm (2 1/2") wide.

In excellent condition with no damage, repair or restoration. Very minor handling wear, mainly just some wear to the gilt on the rim. There is a small fine line of erroneous gilt just inside the spout, now also quite faded. The enamels are very good.
